ANIMAL WASTE: Dog owner/handler must always have wrapper, bag or container for cleanup & removal of animal waste. All dog waste must be removed immediately. Don’t have pooper-scooper? Try the new Mutt Mitt Dispensers in selected City parks. This pilot program is designed to assist the dog-walking public in cleaning up after their pets. Look for the Mutt Mitts at Arroyo Vista Recreation Park, Griffin Park, Monte Vista Park, and at the Home Acres Buffer Zone.

DOG AND CAT LICENSE REQUIRED: For dog and cat licenses, spay and neutering, call your Veterinarian (most vets sell dog & cat licenses) or the Ventura County Animal Regulation Dept. at 388-4341. Dogs and cats must have licenses in Moorpark.

LEASH LAWS: Dogs must be leashed at all times on any public property in Moorpark, including sidewalks, parks and trails. 805-517-6267

NUISANCE BARKING, STRAY, LOOSE DOGS, LEASH LAW ENFORCEMENT: The City now enforces the Moorpark Animal Control Ordinance. Homes in most neighborhoods may have no more than four domestic animals per parcel. For service or to make a complaint, call 805 517-6267.

ANIMAL SHELTER: The main County animal shelter is located at 600 Aviation Avenue, Camarillo. It is inside the Camarillo Airport complex. The Simi Valley animal shelter is located at 670-A W. Los Angeles Avenue, Simi Valley. Call 388-4341 or check the web site for information on impounded animals or other animal pound services. The Camarillo and Simi shelters are open to the public during the following hours:
