The City of Moorpark contracts for law enforcement services with the Ventura County Sheriff´s Department. Sheriff Bob Brooks is the Chief of Police, with the day-to-day police operations falling under the leadership of Captain Ron Nelson.

The Moorpark Police Service Center provides a location in the community where citizens can reach the Moorpark Police administrative personnel, patrol personnel, investigators, traffic officers, community resource officer, and our school resource officers. Citizen volunteers assist with citizen patrols, and provide fingerprinting services for special licensing and children. The City of Moorpark´s reputation as one of the safest cities in Ventura County is a direct reflection on the residents´ commitment to work with the Moorpark Police Department to prevent crime and maintain a quality of life free from the fear of crime.
